WHY? Due to the COVID-19 crisis, California launches a meal delivery program for seniors amid coronavirus pandemic. These elderly and disabled are hard hit by the pandemic and they have difficulty preparing meals and groceries for themselves. Receiving meals and groceries during this challenging time have provided them with a great relief to addressing their nutrition needs.

WHAT?  Since Mid-April 2020, Chinatown Service Center (CSC) has teamed up with City of Los Angeles District 1 Councilman Gilbert Cedillo, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, and Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) to provide hot meals and groceries to the senior at affordable housing apartments, such as Cathay Manor Senior Apartments, Metro Loft, Grand Ave Plaza, Castelar Apartments and many small apartments in Chinatown. We have delivered over 11,500 meals to over 1,300 seniors living in Los Angeles Chinatown.

Reached Goal >18%: 11,500 Hot Meals to Chinatown Seniors

TIME PERIOD: (Over 10 weeks) Since Mid-April until the Safe-at-Home order is lifted

WHO? CSC and CCBA will coordinate logistic to procure hot meals from Golden Dragon Restaurant, a long time Chinatown business establishment to accomplish this project. CSC will waive administration fee so maximum grant will go to this effort.
